Dear Friends,
In this crazy world where the claiming of the self is so highly regarded, even when that claim is hidden, we are driven from almost all directions to comply with the illusion that we are in control of every action, thought, desire, feat: every good and bad thing we have ever done.
Our friends and family are often disappointed with our actions, or proud of them. Our education system tells us that what we are worth can be quantified in knowledge. Advertising tells us we are worth what we own, or what our body looks or smells like. Our job provides us with status and acceptance. Newspapers claim to tell us who is making what happen. New age entrepreneurs are telling us how to empower our self. Science is debating heavily the question of free will? Do we have it or not? While no one has ever been able to provide an honest theory to demonstrate we have, many can not admit that we dont. Yoga, too is not immune from this disease in which displayed ownership is everything, and love has become a word lost within empty slogans and aggressive practice.
We (Olivia & Godfrey Devereux) are writing to remind you of something: something you may have experienced through your journey when you discovered dynamic yoga; something at the heart of its method and the foundation of its practice. That right here, right now you are totally perfect just as you are. You do not have to be anything other than what you are right now, and always. Life requires this of you, if it were not so life would not be as it is.
